Kick-off meeting

The kick-off meeting for the AI-Transpwood project (grant agreement nº 1011381919), funded by the European Commission under the call HORIZON-CL4-2023 -RESILIENCE-01-23 – “Computational models for the development of safe and sustainable by design chemicals and materials” took place in Espoo (Finland) on 6 and 7 February, and was organized by the coordinator of the project, Teknologian Tutkimuskeskus Vtt Oy. 

It was the first occasion for all the partners (Teknologian Tutkimuskeskus Vtt Oy and Aalto University from Finland, KTH from Sweden, TU Wien from Austria, University of Sassari, Politecnico of Torino and BM Plastic from Italy, AIMPLAS from Spain, Latvijas Finieris from Latvia, Inuru GMBH from Germany, Strane Innovation from France, and EPFL−CECAM from Switzerland) to get to know face-to-face each other, to meet the project Advisor, Dr.  Kristina Bole, as well as to present the lump-sum concept and the structure and starting activities of the different work packages of AI-Transpwood project. 

It was a fruitful meeting, with plenty of ideas and brainstorming, suitable for launching the first research activities. In particular, numerous topics from the manufacturing of transparent wood to its AI-driven multiscale modeling in the context of a Safe and Sustainable by Design methodology were addressed.

The next Consortium meeting will be organized by the University of Sassari on 18 and 19 September 2024.
