Second Focus Group of the AI-TranspWood project!

Following the successful Focus Group held in Turin, Italy, the AI-TranspWood project has officially launched its second focus group, representing another important milestone in the exploration of Transparent Wood, an innovative and sustainable material with the potential to serve as an alternative to glass and plastics across a wide range of industries.

The focus group was held on April 17, 2026, at Aalto University in Espoo and gathered professionals from the Scandinavian region involved in the project. Participants took part in an immersive session designed to investigate the perceptual and functional qualities of Transparent Wood, an emerging “perceptual hybrid” that merges the familiar sensory properties of wood with those associated with glass and plastic.

Throughout the session, attendees were able to examine and interact directly with Transparent Wood samples while contributing to a collaborative exploration through creative cognitive ergonomics approaches, including analogies and cognitive mapping. These techniques supported the identification of new functionalities and future market opportunities for a technology that has not yet reached commercial availability.

The AI-TranspWood consortium warmly thanks all participants for their engagement and valuable contributions, which will be instrumental in supporting the continued research and development of Transparent Wood.
